I am told God doesn't want us to feel bad about who we are, which is the Good News. That's a lie. No one will conisder the Gospel good news without getting the whole story.
The world doesn't want someone that has paid for their sin, unitl they have felt the weight of their sinfulness. The world doesn't want someone to Lord over them, till they understand they have no way within them to save theirselves.
The only way the Gospel becomes the Good News is when we first learn the bad news. That we are unrighteous sinners, vile and corrupt. That we have all sinned and there is not a one of us that God can call good. These are the things the Law teaches us. This is what the apostle Paul was telling the Galatians when he told them the Law is a school master teaching us our need for a Savior. Only when we see the exceeding sinfulness of our sin will we ever begin looking for a Savior. That's when the Gospel becomes the Good News.
When we accept all that the Word of God declares we will recognize our need. And when the Gospel does what only the Gospel can do we understand who that Christ came to save. The Gospel will make us into those vessels that have experienced God, which is love, and we will be ever grateful for God's great mercy and love. The Gospel is the Good News that Jesus saves sinners, which everyone is, but the Gospel is the Good News that because of Jesus we no longer have to be sinners. For who the Son sets free is free indeed.
